- Phase 3
- Enrollment
- 1,200 participants
- Est. completion
- Q3 2028
- Sponsor
- Eli Lilly
Background
TRIUMPH-CKD evaluates renoprotective effects of retatrutide in adults with type 2 diabetes and moderate chronic kidney disease. The trial is designed to support a potential label expansion for CKD, following the precedent set by semaglutide (FLOW trial).
Primary endpoint
Change in urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) from baseline at 52 weeks
Secondary endpoints
- Change in eGFR slope
- Time to composite kidney endpoint
- Change in HbA1c
- Change in body weight
Population
Adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (eGFR 30–60 mL/min/1.73m²)
Intervention
Retatrutide 12 mg SC once weekly (or maximum tolerated dose) vs. placebo; dose escalation over 24 weeks
Inclusion criteria
Adults ≥ 18 years; type 2 diabetes; eGFR 30–60 mL/min/1.73m²; UACR ≥ 200 mg/g; on stable ACE inhibitor or ARB therapy
Exclusion criteria
